Poetry & Publishing — Haifa

  • Khashabeh Theatre Haifa (map)

Join us in Haifa’s Khashabeh Theatre for a night of cinema, poetry and publishing talk.

As part of Basma al-Sharif’s film program for 2023 is Sky Hopkina’s Wawa and Ana Vaz’s Occidente.

Next will be the second leg of the Poetry Marathon - an hour of freestyle prose and verse from some of Palestine’s finest poets. They will be joined on stage by Preti Taneja, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson and Eve Ewing.

Finally, we’re thrilled to offer a one-off panel discussion on the international state of publishing and translation today. Bekriah Mawasi will host a conversation between Bibi Bakare-Yusuf, co-founder and publishing director of one of Africa’s leading publishing houses, Cassava Republic Press; Rebecca Servadio, a literary scout, leading London Literary Scouting; and Mahmoud Muna, a writer, editor and curator who runs the famous Educational Bookshop in Jerusalem, as well as the prestigious Bookshop at the American Colony Hotel.

All PalFest events are free and open to the public.

Books will be on sale at our Book Stand.

All PalFest events have simultaneous Arabic-English / English-Arabic translation.
